Emergency Medical Technicians, or EMTs, may face unique challenges when responding to an emergency call from someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia. People with dementia may have trouble communicating their symptoms or experience hallucinations, which makes it vital that EMTs understand the various effects dementia has on the human body. EMTs who complete Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care training will be able to provide appropriate emergency care when seconds and minutes matter.
