Online Program – Disaster Preparedness for Seniors

Older adults need to know what to do in the case of a disaster before the event occurs.  By creating a plan, practicing it regularly with friends and family, older adults are more prepared to face the challenges of a disaster.  The importance of having one’s legal paperwork completed, in the event of a disaster, is also reviewed as an important step necessary for total disaster preparedness.  Plans for managing a loved one with dementia during a disaster is also discussed. Disaster Preparedness for Seniors is a free online, self-paced program for community members to gain awareness and knowledge about the topic. This program takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.
